Miss India International, Esha Gupta’s sex appeal won her a role in Bhatt’s Jannat 2.
When contacted, Deshmukh said, “Yes, I must say there were a lot of discussions before we finalised Esha Gupta, but I think she fits the role perfectly. And I must thank Bhattsaab and Fox Star for agreeing to my choice”
When contacted, Mahesh Bhatt said, “I wanted Paoli for the film, as she had the body language and the willingness to go all out for the film. Paoli had proven the willingness to meet the requirements of the narrative. But that’s when Kunal positioned his case. He said that Jannat 2 is not Murder 2. While Murder depended a lot on erotica and titillation, Jannat should essentially depend on romance. He explained that by casting Paoli, we would be sending the wrong signals to the audience.
He is the director and we always take the call according to the director’s vision and we back that. So, I gracefully gave in.”
Esha will start shooting for her Bollywood debut, in Delhi, from October 7.
It seems that Miss India International winner 2007, Esha Gupta’s looks have worked in her favour yet again. This time around, reportedly, her sensual appeal got her a fast track entry into Bollywood. And to top it off, Esha won the role over Prachi Desai and Paoli Dam in Mahesh Bhatt’s Jannat 2.
In fact, a source informed us that Prachi was finalised for the role, when coproducers, Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films, announced Jannat 2. However, the filmmakers apparently re-considered their decision to cast Prachi in the lead role, on the pretext that she was not as sensual as her role demanded her to be.
The source explained, “Prachi was also not very comfortable with what she was offered. The actress had a word with the Bhatts and they mutually parted ways. That’s when Mahesh Bhatt recommended the Bengali actress, Paoli Dam.”
However, it seems that director Kunal Deshmukh was not satisfied with either of the two options and thought that Esha had the right sex-appeal. He was adamant to get her on-board even though Mahesh Bhatt was keen on Paoli. “Kunal was convinced about Esha, since the time he saw her.
